Writing round-up

It may look like I’ve given up on blogging based on the frequency of blogging here but I have taken to writting more for Progress and Labour List of late. You’ll find these articles a little more tribal (surely not possible I hear you cry!). …Those of a weak nationalist…

Memorable Moments

I still had a strong and unrelenting belief in the values which underpinned why I was sat in that lad’s living room but I couldn’t articulate them in a coherent and convincing manner. I now wonder whether that experience serves as a metaphor for the national Labour campaign?

Grumpy MPs

Had to share this picture of my three favourite new MPs looking decidely unimpressed by the Leader of the SNP.

Oh what a night.

First of all, apologies for absence! At the beginning of April, my good friend Fiona O’Donnell was selected to fight the East Lothian constituency for the Labour Party. Fiona has had a very broad and varied career throughout her life to date, but at the point of her selection she was…

What a load of old rubbish

Hoon and Hewitt’s intervention today has me absolutely seething with rage. Just when things were starting to look up, economy improving, poll gaps closing, Tory farce of a policy launch on Monday, they decide to pipe up and say it’s time for Gordon to go. All they have achieved thus…

Labour take 7 seat lead… in Holyrood!

Yes, that’s right. Based on yesterday’s YouGov poll reported in the Telegraph, processed through www.Scotlandvotes.com, the seat breakdown would be as follows: Lab 47 SNP 40 Lib 18 Con 17 Green 4 Ind 1 SSP 2 So the Lib Dems are up 2, Tory’s maintain their 17 seats and the SNP…

What do MSPs have for Breakfast?

I was in Berlin last week so missed all the excitement of the by-election. I am chuffed however to see that 2 of my 3 predications proved correct and that thankfully, I was wrong to think the BNP might just keep their deposit. However, as I was catching up with…

The BNP? Not a problem here pal….

Absolutely fascinating map  of the relationship between BNP membership and large non-white populations courtesy of the Guardian Data blog. Why is it that the two corrolate in some parts of parts of the country but not in others? Why is London largely unaffected by the BNP? My biggest concern with…

Leaders Lead, Followers Follow

Jeff at SNP Tactical Voting has an interesting piece running on The Steamie about local factors in the Glasgow North East by election. He bemoans the fact that the entire by election campaign has been dominated by the birth place and locality of each parties candidate. He says “A by-election…

Salmond & The Born Again David Kerr

The SNP’s spin machine is clearly out of kilter. Alex Salmond’s visit to Glasgow North East today should have drawn a line under the drama surrounding David Kerr’s birthplace and refocused the campaign on the key issues - at least from the SNP’s perspective. But it wasn’t so. In fact…

Unpleasant

The SNP campaign in Glasgow North East is in further trouble today after it was revealed that David Kerr has lied about his birthplace. And here’s the proof. One leaflet from his Falkirk by-election leaflet saying he was born in Cumbernauld. The other from his Glasgow North East campaign saying…

Just for the record

This is page 2 of the electoral register for Glasgow Springburn, polling district SP62. I’ve redacted the rest of the names on the list out of sheer politeness, but there’s the proof that Willie Bain lives and votes in the constituency. The internet is awash with lies about Willie’s circumstances…
